Child Care News for Parents & Carers
March 13, 2019
Kia ora, this week we look at how parents and carers can support children to achieve maximum benefit from their time in child care, also the interesting benefits of rhythmic gestures in storytelling.
Supporting children to thrive in care
Whether your little one launches into child care without looking back or struggles with separation anxiety at drop-off time, it's important to support them as they grow and develop in the child care environment.

To do this, here's how you can get involved and provide encouragement for your early learner.
New research around storytelling and rhythmic gestures
When it comes to improving children's oral skills, it seems there is much to be gained from reading with your eyes and talking with your hands.

In fact, researchers from Pompeu Fabra University in Spain have found that the use of rhythmic gestures when storytelling immediately benefits children's narrative abilities.

Here we look at this study in more detail, and suggest some stories that will animate both you and your child.
