Supporting the development of listening skills
|
Developing a strong listening ability benefits a child's cognitive, physical, social and emotional development but humans are not born with good listening skills, it is an ability that needs to be nurtured, practiced and encouraged.
Listening is often confused with hearing. While hearing refers to the sounds entering a person's ear - which is involuntary and natural - listening is a complex behaviour drawing on active thinking skills and requires concentrated effort.

Block play builds more than STEM

There's more value in block play than simply helping young children learn basic principles of math and science, in fact it's an incredible resource that, with educator support, allows children to explore ideas such as creativity, literacy and, social-emotional development.
