BestStart Palm Springs (formerly First Steps Papamoa) is a beautiful purpose built childcare centre that promotes education, adventure and friendship. We provide flexible morning, afternoon and full day sessions to meet the needs of your family.

Our passionate teachers are positive, caring, professional and enthusiastic. Your child's educational journey, growth and independence are promoted through our well thought out environment. We provide a wide range of resources that support their development and a strong sense of belonging. BestStart Palm Springs has three inviting age and development specific rooms, infant, toddler and preschool room. These are called Hikurangi, Mangatawa and Kopukairoa, named after the Three Whales of Papamoa legend.

BestStart Palm Springs' Classrooms

The Hikurangi Room is our infant and toddler room where your baby will be able to develop holistically through their own natural routines, building strong relationships between home and the centre.

The Mangatawa Room is our toddler and early pre-school room where your child will grow to develop greater independence, confidence, communication and social skills.

The Kopukairoa Room is our pre-school room where your child will have the opportunity to engage deeper into projects that are of interest to them. This leads to investigations that prompt problem solving, teamwork and complex thinking. We believe in growing children’s confidence before they transition to school and work alongside parents who will decide when the time is right for their child to go to school.

To support your busy lifestyle we offer a range of extra curricula activities at our centre; these include ballet classes at our centre, swimming lessons at Bartlett’s Swim school in Papamoa; and also the Tauranga City Council Library bus visits us fortnightly. Playball and Rugby Tots will also be offered on a term by term basis. We also offer morning tea, a healthy cooked meal for lunch and afternoon tea daily, we hold the gold health heart award. You can smell the delicious range of food cooking throughout the centre.  We are passionate about teaching our children about recycling, reusing and composting and have been working with Tauranga City Council to complete stage 4 of the Resource Wise Schools Programme.
