BestStart Kaiwharawhara(formerly Early Years Hutt Road) is conveniently located on Hutt Road, the perfect location for any family travelling to or from the city. An amazing outlook over the Wellington harbour provides limitless opportunities for children to learn about the environment they are connected to - planes, trains and automobiles as well as the ocean, sky and hills.

At our centre, children flourish into confident individuals who know who they are and enjoy actively participating in learning about their interests through both planned and spontaneous learning opportunities. We facilitate this within our four learning rooms, each catering to age relevant developmental stages of your child. We know that parents are a child's first teacher and therefore are here to support and compliment the learning occurring at home.

We have a resident cook who prepares nutritious meals cooked fresh daily for children, including breakfast, lunch, morning and afternoon teas. We also provide nappies.  These two services mean that your mornings can be spent having quality time with your family, rather than packing bags and making lunches. We have a large car park on site, so finding a safe place to park and enter the centre is easy.

Tui Room - Our Tui Room teachers are nurturing, friendly, flexible and respectful. They are fabulous at very quickly establishing special relationships, which enables your child to discover new things. Having flexible routines allows for this to happen. The Tui Room has a lovely calm indoor environment that is adaptable to create cosy spaces. The children of the Tui Room can engage in a lot of play in their dedicated outside environment, while observing the older children in the other outdoor spaces.

Weka Room - The children in the Weka Room are encouraged and supported to continue developing their skills as they extend into their toddler development stages. Our team of teachers focus on supporting the children in their self-help skills, socialising and independence.  With an outdoor deck area that they share with the older children from the neighbouring preschool room, a lot of shared learning and fun occurs outside each day.  The opportunity to explore further is promoted as confidence and gross-motor skills naturally develop.

Kea and Pukeko Rooms - Our two Preschool rooms are set up in a way that enables the teachers to support the children to continue to grow as confident and competent learners. Both spaces are deliberately designed to enable children  to select resources that are interesting to them and our passionate teachers are alongside them guiding and extending their learning. Literacy, numeracy and science are woven throughout the play space, supporting children to "Be School Ready" when they embark on their journey to school.
