BestStart Katikati  

BestStart Katikati (formerly ABC Katikati) is where fun and learning meet an early childcare education centre where tamariki develop through play. We pride ourselves on embracing the diverse needs of our community and enjoy supporting and encouraging our young ones in their understanding of these cultures and wider social connections.

We celebrate and promote positive relationships encouraging our tamariki to engage lovingly and respectfully with their playmates, whanau, and greater community. We value these relationships and believe they build important foundations for learning and development. 
Our education is play-based, following the unique interests of our tamariki with a focus on meeting individual goals and the aspirations of parents and whanau. We have a wide variety of fun and educational resources and experiences available daily for children including art, messy play, music, blocks, family play, construction books, music, and physical activity.  

Our children are inquisitive in their learning, whether pouring water through different measuring jugs, shapes, cylinders and finding out how much is left, playing make believe with their friends, and building friendships that last throughout their learning journey. 

Our curriculum follows Te Whāriki, with an emphasis on the five strands: communication, well-being, belonging, contribution, and exploration. We encourage our tamariki to respect and care for our Papatūānuku (mother earth). We adapt our environment to suit the needs of our children and whatever their interests are. We provide the BestStart Be School Ready programme to assist in the transition to primary education. This initiative runs alongside the NZ primary school curriculum and is integrated into our daily programme.
