First Steps Brooklyn  

BestStart Brooklyn (formerly First Steps Brooklyn) is licensed for 30 children aged between 3 months and 5 years old, with our warm, home-like environment offering young children a sense of security and allowing for close relationships between staff, children and whānau.

The qualified, experienced and passionate teachers at BestStart Brooklyn will work closely with you and your child to ensure that we provide the best possible care and education during their early years.

Our mixed aged setting offers many benefits for children and allows teachers to capitalise on differences in the experiences, knowledge and abilities of each child. This unique setting also provides opportunities for siblings to grow and develop alongside one another. 

We pride ourselves on the quality of the programme, environment, and opportunities that we provide for our children. Our emergent curriculum is based on the interests of the child, reflects parental aspirations, dispositional learning and encompasses the strands of Te Whāriki the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum. As qualified teachers our aim is to support children in becoming confident and capable lifelong learners who are prepared and excited to take the next step in their learning journey. Our programme introduces children to early numeracy, literacy, creative arts, science, physical education and social skills thus supporting the readiness of our children for school.

We also understand the need to nurture not just care for your baby. The most important part of taking care of your baby is our partnership with you. Our teachers develop close relationships with you so that together we know how to best support your child and share experiences of what is happening in their development. Your child’s wonderful moments and milestones will be captured and shared through one-on-one communication and their portfolios.
