BestStart Bader Street  

BestStart Bader Street (formerly TopKids Bader) is located in the Melville area, situated on the corner of Bader Street and Willis Ave within walking distance to Waikato Hospital. ERO has rated BestStart Bader Street in the top 7% of NZ childcare centres providing positive learning outcomes for children.

We have a wide variety of booking options to meet each child and family’s individual needs.  We provide quality education for children from 3 months old to 6 years and our play spaces are divided into three different rooms to help support children’s individual learning and development.

Here at BestStart Bader we have a very unique culture where the foundation of our centre philosophy is developed from appreciation, respect, trust, honesty and collaboration with one another.  Our values and beliefs align with our philosophy and we continue to strive to provide a positive, safe learning environment that offers quality education for our children. We believe that children learn through meaningful, positive and reciprocal relationships with people, places and things.  Each member of our centre dedicates time to ensure that they build trusting relationships with all of our families and children that attend our centre. Our routines, activities and daily running of our curriculum is designed around our children’s needs, current interest and passions.

We have a love for everyone’s culture and individuality and we honour the Treaty of Waitangi by working in partnership with our children, teachers and whanau to achieve the best learning outcomes for our tamariki. We engage frequently in cultural celebrations and whanau evenings with our children and families, and these are a significant part of our programme and centre culture.

 We believe in supporting children to become confident, competent and capable lifelong learners. We offer a robust curriculum that caters to children’s individual and group interests that supports their strengths and learning and development in a range of different areas.   Our knowledge and understanding of our tamariki is supported by the ongoing partnership that our teachers create with our whanau and an appreciation and respect that we have for one another.

Through our planning and assessment we ensure that we make connections to our early childhood curriculum Te Whāriki, the School Curriculum, Te Whatu Pōkeka, Tātaiako and Te kakano. Each learning story also provides evidence of how our teachers are supporting each child’s learning journey and scaffolding children to meet their parent aspirations.

We support children’s learning and development by going on regular local excursions out in our community to support our children’s current interests.  We are also involved in helping support our four year old children have a smooth transition to school by taking our children on regular school visits to the local schools within our area.

Our educators are provided with ongoing professional development that BestStart provides for all members of the BestStart community.  Teachers are encouraged to attend and participate in these learning opportunities on a regular basis to help support the growth and development of each individual teacher.

Our centre has a cook who provides fresh, nutritious and delicious meals everyday including breakfast, lunch, and morning and afternoon tea, which is all included in the childcare fee depending on your child’s hours.
