BestStart Russell Street (formerly ABC Palmerston North) is a high quality education and childcare centre with a fantastic newly renovated interior and completely revamped large outside space.

Our dedicated teachers are committed to the development and growth of every child. At BestStart Russell Street, your child will become ready for school and ready for life! Our teachers have initiated a meaningful curriculum that will develop your child's skills and attitudes for life-long learning.  We have a strong focus on the areas of literacy, numeracy, science and physical education and through these subjects your child learns how to take on responsibility, be independent, and develop meaningful and reciprocal relationships with others.Each room is uniquely focused on the age and stage of each child within the room. Our environments are aimed at encouraging and extending children's learning, development and current interests. We nurture your child's social, emotional, cognitive and physical development while providing a fun and enjoyable atmosphere.

Infants to 2 years - This room provides flexible routines in an environment that is nurturing, respectful and caring. The teachers and children in this room develop meaningful relationships which enable the children to discover the world around them. Each child is encouraged and supported through their learning as an individual plan is developed specifically to meet their needs.

2 - 3.5 year olds - The learning journey continues in the Pukeko room. Here the wonderful teaching team focus on developing and fostering children's self-help skills and independence. The children and teachers also work together to build and foster relationships and friendships which encourages the development of social skills. The learning environment provides your child with opportunities to discover and make links with the wider world.

3.5 - 5 year olds - This room focuses on the ever increasing independence of our pre-school children. The passionate teaching team create an environment that allows your child the time and space to make their own choices while at the same time being supported and guided by the teachers. The environment is literacy and numeracy rich and allows for both collaborative and solitary learning. Your child will experience our Be School Ready initiative which is woven into our Pakeke programme.

At BestStart Russell Street we practice whaanaungatanga - a relationship through shared experiences and working together which gives everyone a sense of belonging. We provide a space for your child to be a child where they can run freely in our amazing outside space, get physical, socialize with others and have fun.
